I created this quilt using various cut fabrics. Willa’s hair for example is a series of very thin fabric strips layered meticulously atop one another. This was a time-consuming process but the effect was gratifying. After the collaging was completed I used airbrushed fabric paint to enhance the faces of the children. I wanted their faces to look rosy and unblemished. Finally I quilted the entire piece using a sewing machine.
