I took a photo of a vintage spool of thread on a kitchen towel. Then I used photoshop to play with the image: mirroring it, making multiples of it, turning it upside down, etc. After completing this part, I took the end result and printed the new image on two separate pieces of cotton fabric. From there I cut one image on cotton into horizontal strips and the other into vertical strips. I wove them together, machine embroidered, and quilted the entire piece.
