I used multiple layers of sheer organza and cotton fabric to create this raw edge fabric collage. I also air-brushed fabric paint in some places to enhance the quality of the design. The quilt border panels of fabric are a faux wood design to resemble a weathered wooden window frame. I quilted the fabric collage using multi-colored metallic and cotton thread. The inspiration was the winter view from my window showing indoor orchids in the foreground, illuminated by the morning rays of sunshine. I loved the contrast and the play of the cold, fractured light through icicles framing the warmth and delicacy of the blooms.
