Aromatic Tea
A Ceramic Teapot
2018
Dimensions
10” x 8.5” x 4.25”
Materials & Techniques
Inspired by an antique perfume bottle, this teapot was created from an original slip-cast mold for the teapot body and lid. I used a cone 5/6 porcelain clay slip. The handle was pulled. Both the spout and feet are wheel-thrown using a mid-range white stoneware clay. The glaze was Amaco Potter’s Choice Cone 5/6 True Celadon PC-40. Over this glaze I applied a tiny amount of an airbrushed rose and metallic gold China paint re-fired to cone 018.
Firing Temperature & Atmosphere
Multiple firings in an electric kiln from cone 5 – cone 018.
