   Pot-holder platter


 

Pot-Holder Platter is a ceramic platter in the form and coloration of a pot holder.

  • Created as part of a series of ceramic pieces involving experimentation with colored clays.
  • White porcelain was colored variously with Mason stains. Portions were rolled out into slabs.
  • The differently colred slabs were cut into strips, which were woven together.
  • The resulting work was then press molded into a dish shape.
  • The edges were subsequently altered.
  • Construction sequence: Initially fired to cone 06.
  • No glazes were applied. Final refiring to cone 6.
  • Size: 10.0" x 10.0" x 4.0".
  • Date: 2002.
