   PIPPY'S PANTALOON PURSE II, A CERAMIC TEAPOT

 

Pippy's Pantaloon Purse II is a ceramic teapot in the form of a yellow purse.

  • Hand-built of stoneware paperclay, this piece constitutes an artistic advance on the design of the earlier Pippy's Pantaloon Purse prototype. It has similar coloration and overal configuration, but is made of sturdier and more versatile stoneware paperclay in lieu of stoneware clay, larger bead embellishments on the quiliting interstices, and an impoved lid structure.
  • Construction sequence: Fired initially to cone 06. Hand-painted underglazes applied. Sections covered with clear cone 6 glaze. Refired to cone 6. Ruby opalescent overglaze applied. Fired yet again to come 017. Silver luster applied. Fired once more to cone 018. Beading added.
  • Size: 14.0" x 9.5" x 7.0".
