   Large thrown silk-screened plate

Large Thrown Silk-Screen Plate is a ceramic plate decorated with a silk-screen image with abstract design.

  • This work was part of a series of six plates that I made of white stoneware clay cone 9/10. Some were soda fired and others were reduction fired.
  • This plate was wheel thrown. While in its greenware state, a silk-screened Mandala design was air-brushed onto its surface by a newly-developed technique of mine. The stencil was cut from lacquer film. Because a silk-screen cannot be applied to a surface that is not flat, it was cut and adhered to the plate. The pressure of the air-brushng forced the color through the stencil onto the plate.
  • Construction sequence: First fired to cone 06. Underglazes were applied by air-brushing. The piece was then soda fired to cone 9/10.
  • Size: 10.0" x  2.0".
  • Date: 2002.
  • Sold.
